Dialogic Announces Asterisk Channel Driver, Active Support
Dialogic announced that it will offer active support for its line of Diva® Media Processing boards for the Asterisk PBX system.
From the Press Release:
“…the Diva board can conference up to 120 active callers without causing load on the CPU. Some of the media features of Diva boards are echo cancellation (up to 256ms), DTMF detection and clamping and modem or fax support. Some of their signaling features are worldwide support of protocols and services, including most Q-SIG flavors and SS7 (ITU-T).”
However, they make no mention of G.729/G.723.1 transcoding abilities.
Back in the day, I remember assisting Mark Spencer and Gerry Gilmore, from intel/Dilogic, on a GlobalCall® based Asterisk Channel driver, but for whatever reasons chan_dialogic was never released as a ‘generally’ available channel driver.
I am glad to see Dialogic is finally embracing Asterisk. This further proves that Asterisk has now entered into the mainstream telecommunications market.
