The Last HOPE
I am one of many speakers at The Last HOPE conference starting Friday July 18th at the historic Pennsylvania Hotel in New York City.
Blake Cornell and I will be discussing how many foreign governments and ISPs are blocking VoIP services in attempt to protect their monopoly and/or to censor information. We intend to release a tool to determine of your ISP is blocking SIP and another which can be used to scan entire netblocks to determine if any IAX2 services are available.
We are going to provide extensive detail as to how Asterisk and VoIP Providers who support IAX2 can provide virtually un-blockable VoIP services to those that happen to be in a country that is actively blocking SIP-based VoIP services.
Intend on attending various other talks (some related to VoIP, others not so much):
- Ghetto IDS and Honeypots for the Home User by Black Ratchet
- A Hacker’s View of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by Phil Lapsley
- Hacking Cool Things with Microcontrollers by Mitch Altman
- Hacking International Networks and System(s) using VoIP by Da Beave, Jfalcon
- The History of Phone Phreaking, 1960-1980 by Phil Lapsley
- “Off the Grid” Voice/Data Communications by Skip Arey, bernieS
- Phone Losers of America by Murd0c, Rob T Firefly, I-baLL, Sidepocket
I am also very interested in what Adam Savage, of Mythbusters fame, is going to talk about. I like that show…figured he was also a hacker
I foresee this is going to be a very informative and sleepless conference. If you are anywhere near NYC this weekend, you should plan on attending!
